Tunable Laser Sources

Tunable Laser Sources for Wavelength Sweeps

Tunable laser sources support wavelength-dependent optical component characterization, fibre testing, spectroscopy, and photonics measurement. The XTL-1600 provides a standard 1500 nm to 1600 nm tuning range with continuous mode-hopping-free wavelength sweeping.

Review wavelength accuracy and repeatability, scanning speed, linewidth measurement method, optical power stability, and the FC/APC optical interface against the intended measurement. Narrow linewidth and wavelength sweeping support optical frequency domain reflection analysis, while synchronous trigger-level output supports component characterization during scanning.

Read the detailed specifications and their test conditions before comparing performance: the datasheet specifies at least one hour of warmup and excludes water-absorption wavelengths from the stated specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wavelength range does the XTL-1600 cover?
The XTL-1600 has a standard tuning range of 1500 nm to 1600 nm. Its continuous mode-hopping-free sweep supports wavelength-dependent optical component measurements. Review the product page and datasheet for the complete specifications and conditions.
How should I compare the XTL-1600 linewidth specifications?
Keep the measurement method and typical designation with each value. The datasheet lists typical linewidth below 100 kHz using the self time delay method and typical intrinsic linewidth below 10 kHz. The reference time delay fibre length should be less than 2 km for the self time delay measurement.
What conditions apply to the published specifications?
All specifications require at least one hour of warmup and apply outside water-absorption wavelengths. Additional numbered conditions apply to wavelength accuracy, stability, optical power, linewidth, and spontaneous radiation ratio; review those conditions on the product page and in the datasheet.
