Programmable DC and AC Power Solutions for EV, Solar, and Lab

XGY Tek supplies programmable DC sources, AC grid simulators, bidirectional supplies, regenerative AC/DC platforms, electronic loads, and LISN interfaces to power-electronics teams worldwide. Applications span EV battery cycling, solar inverter compliance, fuel-cell I-V testing, automotive 48 V and HV bench work, aerospace power-quality verification, charger validation, and production burn-in.

The selection should be driven by source quadrant, sink requirement, the model-specific voltage and power envelope, ripple and transient targets where applicable, regeneration path, remote-control interface, safety interlock, cooling, and facility limits.

The published portfolio spans compact benchtop instruments, DC loads to 2400 V, and medium-voltage grid simulators to 35 kV line-to-line with multi-MVA configurations. For source/load selection, see our DC power test platform guide.

A quote should define line voltage, available power, cooling, calibration documentation, installation scope, emergency-stop logic, report fields, and whether the bench must pass at least 3 known-good and 3 known-fail DUT states before production use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between linear, switching, and bidirectional power supplies?
Linear supplies (XDC100SA, XDC203SP series) deliver ultra-low noise but waste power as heat - ideal for low-noise lab work. Switching supplies (YDC100, YDC202QW, wide-range N362) are efficient and compact, suited to production benches, BMS test, and broad source-mode voltage coverage. Bidirectional supplies (N351 and high-power N355) source and sink current - required for battery cycling, regenerative load testing, and traction-system validation where the DUT can return energy.
Do XGY power supplies support battery cycling and regenerative testing?
Yes - our N351 bidirectional supply, N355 high-power bidirectional supply, and GXC804B-5K regenerative AC/DC source are engineered for battery cycling, fuel-cell I-V sweeps, and 48 V or 800 V automotive HV bench testing. They return energy to the grid rather than dumping into a resistor bank. Pair with the N621 benchtop or N692 high-power electronic load for full source-sink test stands. For RFQ detail, see our battery test system quote checklist and bidirectional DC power supply selection guide.
What standards do XGY AC sources comply with for grid simulation?
The AC301SHP and AC303SHP high-power grid simulators and MVGS programmable AC source support compliance testing against AS/NZS 4777 (Australia inverter grid connection), IEC 61727 (PV grid interconnect), IEC 62116 (anti-islanding), and MIL-STD-704 (aerospace power-quality). They generate programmable voltage sags, frequency excursions, and harmonic injection profiles. See our Power & Energy solutions for full bench configurations.
What should be validated before accepting a power supply bench?
Validate output accuracy, ripple or noise, transient recovery, current limit, OVP/OCP/OTP behavior, remote control, emergency stop, calibration status, thermal behavior, report export, and repeatability at representative load points.
When is a regenerative source worth specifying?
Specify regeneration when the DUT can return meaningful energy, the facility can accept regenerated power, and the operating profile would otherwise waste heat in a resistor bank. Battery cycling, motor drive, inverter, and high-power bidirectional tests are the common cases.
