Overview
XMU-5421 provides four source-and-measure channels with four-quadrant operation and 600 kSa/s sampling. Its ±24 V voltage range has 200 µV resolution; the 10 µA current range provides 100 pA programming and measurement resolution. Five current ranges extend to 150 mA for automated device characterization.
Additional product details
The XMU-5421 provides four source-and-measure channels with four-quadrant operation in one 3U, 4 HP PXIe module. The XMU-5421 ±24 V voltage range combines with 200 µV resolution for automated device characterization, and its 10 µA current range provides 100 pA programming and measurement resolution. The XMU-5421 600 kSa/s sampling rate supports automated characterization and transient-oriented test workflows, and Windows and Linux support with a VISA-based DLL integrates the module into modular test systems.
XMU-5421 application areas also cover measurement support for power-electronic devices and power-supply design, multi-channel electrical characterization for semiconductor research workflows, and source and measurement functions for materials and biochemical research. The XMU-5421 shipped as XMU5201B before the 19 August 2026 renumbering, with no change to the hardware.
Key Capabilities & Applications
Four-quadrant characterization
Four channels support source/measure and electronic-load workflows within a ±24 V and ±150 mA envelope. No separate higher pulsed-current limit is listed.
Resolution with explicit accuracy
Voltage resolution is 200 µV. Voltage accuracy is ±(0.1% + 10 mV) at 23 °C ±5 °C; the 10 µA current range resolves 100 pA with ±(0.1% + 4 nA) accuracy at the same temperature.
PXIe test-system integration
The 3U, 4 HP PXIe module specifies 600 kSa/s sampling and supports Windows and Linux through a VISA-based DLL.

Performance notes
XMU-5421 voltage accuracy is ±(0.1% + 10 mV) at 23 °C ± 5 °C. At small set points the 10 mV offset dominates the percentage term outright. So the 200 µV step buys resolution, not accuracy, and should be read that way.
Read the current table by range before you order. Typical noise and programming resolution carry the same figure on every range. One unaveraged reading therefore lands on the quantisation floor rather than under it. The 150 mA range resolves 1.5 µA, the practical limit when a DUT draws near full scale. On arrival, exercise the 10 µA range over the 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz band the noise column assumes.

Selection guidance
Format: 3U PXIe, 4 HP
Coverage: 4 channels; ±24 V voltage range; ±150 mA maximum current range; 600 kSa/s sampling; current resolution down to 100 pA
Best for: Four-channel automated device characterization where 100 pA current resolution is sufficient.
The XMU-5421 is the standard-grade model to pick when 200 µV voltage resolution and current resolution down to 100 pA are enough. Forward-voltage sweeps on packaged diodes and LED or laser-diode binning sit comfortably inside this grade. So do bias-point screening and four-quadrant electronic-load work on the same fixture. Move up to the XMU-5422 only when the measurement itself lives below these numbers.
Send the operating envelope, configuration and acceptance evidence you need; the quotation confirms model, options and delivery documentation.
